[ShOe Inspired] Top Five Outfit Posts

Hi there!

To commemorate almost five months of ShoeAxis, I thought I'd feature my top five outfit posts.

# 5 is the LBD Shoe Lookbook post featuring the Little Black Dress worn with three different shoes for three unique looks.

# 4 is the Jeans & three-quarter sleeved sweater post. It's a simple, basic look that's updated with the coral-colored cardigan and black stiletto booties.

# 3 is the Color block blouse post. It went outside my practical zone, but looked awesome, especially with the matching peep-toe midnight blue heels and orange colored toes.

# 2 is the Vintage 90's citrus sheath dress post that I updated with a skinny belt and floral T-strap pumps.

And the # 1 post is...The Slouchy 80's sweater and short shorts post paired with classic nude stilettos and a multi strand pearl necklace!

[ShOe Inspired] Louboutins or ShoeMint, and the Neon Trend

Hi there!

Christian Louboutin Neon Yellow Transparent Pumps at $795

ShoeMint Neon Yellow Kaylen Pumps at $79.98

If price weren't an issue, I would go for the Louboutins because I LOVE the ankle strap and how the transparent portion gives this neon yellow pump a unique, sexy look. With Labor Day weekend as the official end of summer, these shoes may not seem to be very practical, but I think neon may be a continuing trend into the fall (See link here.)

[ShOe Inspired] What To Wear?

Hi there!

My sister-in-law turns 50 on Friday, and is having a birthday party in San Diego Saturday night. I want to wear a dress, but not look too formal...I want to be simple, yet stylish...I want to be comfortable, but not look sloppy...I want want to be classic, yet hip.

With this criteria, I've been at a lose as to what to wear, but then I remembered Polyvore and scanned through their outfit ideas until I came up with this look.

Here's the outfit I created on my Polyvore site, and hope to recreate something similar for Saturday night!

[ShOe Inspired] Summer Slouchy Sweater & Short Shorts

Hi there!

I've always loved the look and feel of a comfortable slouchy sweater and a pair of shorts.  Now that shorts are chic, they can be worn numerous ways and to a variety of settings, like out to dinner with nude stilettos on a cool summer night!

This is an old Ann Taylor sweater I've had for years that I just could never get rid of because it's so comfortable and versatile.  I'm glad I never did, but dare I say that it's been around since the 80's...

The multi-stranded pearl necklace and multi-colored bracelets are from Forever 21, which has so many jewelery choices at rock bottom prices!

These nude stilettos from ShoeMint are one of my current favorite shoes, as you can see in these posts here, here, here, and here!  These Forever 21 black linen shorts probably have close to a negative CPW now (my Cost Per Wear philosophy discussed in this post here), since I've worn them here and here, as well as many other times IRL (in real life)!

This Calvin Klein slouchy sweater (sale $58.99) & short shorts (sale $39.99) outfit has got me ShOe Inspired!  I want a pair of colored denim shorts I can play around with now!  I told you  in this post here, that I am loving color right now, although I still love my casual neutral look with this ensemble.

Next shopping mission...to find a great pair of fun, stylish, versatile, yet reasonably priced colored denim shorts...can't wait to find those cuties and pair them with everything, wearing them everywhere!  Btw, like my little tongue-tied phrased title?

[ShOe Inspired] Family Style at a Baptism

Hi there!

A couple days after her 16th birthday (see post here), my youngest was baptized by her awesome youth pastor.

Our youngest, with Mom (dress from Ross) & Dad, in her new skirt we gave her for her baptism, from Anthropologie.

The kids all dressed up for church.

The grandparents are even stylish...I think that's where the kids get it from!  My parents on the left, coordinating nicely, and my in-laws on the right, matching perfectly!  Aren't they all so cute!

We were all ShOe Inspired by my youngest and her decision to be baptized (see this post here about the mission trip that touched and inspired her).  Everyone got dressed up to celebrate this important day with her, and her grandparents came all the way up from So Cal to witness it.  It was such a lovely service, and she gave a touching testimony, as well as sang beautifully with the friends she was baptized with.

[ShOe Inspired] Trouser Jeans & The Shirt of Many Colors

Hi there!

Outfit :: Multi-colored shirt-Ross Dress for Less // Shoes-Nine West @ Ross // Trouser Jeans-Gap // Bracelet & Earrings-Forever 21 // Necklace-Borrowed from the eldest // Bag-Gift

I am ShOe Inspired by this Multi-colored shirt in turquoise, chartreuse, aubergine, blush, and burnt orange, as well as these jeans!  The cool thing about these jeans is the trouser style, so I sometimes cheat and wear them when it's NOT casual Friday!  I can have both the comfort of jeans with the look of a trouser.  Tricky, right?! 

I also think that my turquoise-like colored toes have prompted me to wear these unique colors lately.  I just LOVE how some of these color names sound, like chartreuse & aubergine; a much more sophisticated ring to it than green & purple, plus they're just FUN to say, don't you think?

[ShOe Inspired] Casual Friday Jeans & Color Fun!

Hi there!

Happy Friday...and while we're at it, Happy Casual Friday Outfit!  

Coral sweater - Gap, Black tank - Costco, Yellow belt & Brown bag - Target, Gold & Pink Necklace and Turquoise Bracelet - Borrowed from the Eldest, Jeans (with the top button missing!) - The Son's 11th Grade School Fair Yard Sale, Black Suede Stiletto Booties - Calvin Klein.

I am ShOe Inspired by colors since I'm wearing a lot of colors today that are broken up with some neutrals.  I'm also wearing my Calvin Klein Lenora Booties that I wasn't too sure about at first, but think I am slowly falling in love with and building a nice relationship with, as I have now worn her since one of my original posts here and in a Shoe Lookbook here.

Now I don't know if it was because it's a Friday, the fact that I'm wearing jeans, or all the different colors, but I was in quite a good, peppy mood!  I honestly think it was the colors that made me feel light and fun, and bringing along my Calvin Booties added a flirty, sophisticated look to the outfit.  I believe it brought us even closer together...because there was a spring in Lenora's step all day ;-)

The Hubby and I commuted in to work together that day because I was working out of another clinic that was close to his downtown office.  He takes my outfit post photos and is still navigating his way with the camera, as well as working with a subject who definitely is not a model, so when he told me to strike a sexy model pose...

Here's what I came up with.  The fact that my hair grazed my face as the wind gently blew, along with my playful mood, and possibly an inspired photographer, made for a decent photo since all these elements were in place.  Not bad for this old girl :-)

[ShOe Inspired] Target and a Little Girl

Hi there!

At a graduation party a few weeks ago, I was ShOe Inspired by a little girl wearing a denim dress with a yellow belt and brown sandals!  I thought, I have that outfit in my closet, minus the yellow belt!  So to complete my Target -themed outfit, I went and got me a yellow belt there! (The Mom necklace is a gift from the kids a few years ago).

Now I'm kind of embarrassed because of my wrinkly dress and elbows (which need lotion too!), but after a long day at work and the fact that I HATE to iron, I hope that you'll forgive me ;-)  Have you ever run out of the house and forgotten some minor grooming detail, then realized it later on?  Let me know because I obviously forget stuff like lotion sometimes!  Thank you for visiting and being a part of my journey!

[ShOe Inspired] A Cape Cardigan like Kendi Everyday!

Hi there!

Outfit - Blouse: Urban Outfitters, Bag: H&M, borrowed from the eldest, Belt: Target, Shorts: Forever 21, Shoes: Etsy, Cape Cardigan: Gift from a boutique in Tahoe.

Every time I wear this cardigan, the kids say it looks like I'm wearing a cape.  Well low and behold, one of my favorite bloggers, Kendi Everyday , styled a cape-like cardigan in her Weekend Wear blog post here.

Now I don't claim to even come close to her (I mean I couldn't even get my cardigan to float like a cape in these photos like she did in hers), but I am inspired by her.  Within the first few months of starting her blog, she posted this passage, "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." — Mark Twain


As I read this quote, it struck me that at the time, Kendi had no idea where her blog was going to take her; she was just doing something she loved and had a passion for.  Within a of couple years, Kendi has been endorsed by Target and gets sponsorship by other brands.  She recently fulfilled a dream of opening her own boutique, Bloom, which I encourage you to visit because it has super cute stuff!  I just ordered the Moss Approach Dress from the website and will feature it in a future post...can't wait to get it!
