Hi there!
Remember the redecorating project for Nor Cal BFF's office on this blog post
here? In order to continue the
DesignAxis series with this second installment and to fulfill my inner designer, I am going to show you how using my
Repurpose Mode design approach can save you lots of dollars, yet yield you great style results!
The first step in this approach is to go shopping in your own space, because you already have the stuff and it's basically free. In this case, Nor Cal BFF was able to scour through the basement at work, finding a couple of great pieces!
|
The first find were these pair of chairs...we'll just clean them up and they're good to go! |
|
I was planning on placing a large mirror on this wall, and assumed it would be a big ticket item because of the size. Imagine my surprise when she told me about this second find. After I saw it, I was thrilled because it was perfect! |
|
The second step is to look through Craigslist or eBay. I found this counter height wood cafe table and these chairs for $50 on Craigslist. The accessories on the utility cart were left in her new space (read free), so I'm using them in the redesign!
Another Craigslist find (below) was the glass-topped conference room table with 4 chairs I got for a steal at $75! |
|
The third step is to pick things up at yard sales. This upholstery fabric was $10 at a yard sale. I got about 2 yards of it along with a large bulletin board thrown in at that price. See the post here on one way to recycle old, worn items to give them new life to round out the final steps of the Repurpose Mode. |
|
I am really loving Craigslist now for these design steals, especially after finding these oil paintings at $30 a piece. These pictures match the eclectic Tuscan-theme we are going for, since the owners of the business are Italian. Can't wait to get them on the wall once the room is completed! |
|
The fourth step is to see if friends or family have items they want to get rid of or don't really need. This is an extra sofa table I have in our bedroom. It has random items on it, like a wedding photo, and it really doesn't coordinate with the room, so I sold it to NorCal BFF for a mere $25. |
What are your thoughts on my design Repurpose Mode? Let me know because this is essentially how I decorate and the basis of my design philosophy. Come back to see the room completion on the next segment of DesignAxis. Thank you for visiting and being a part of my journey!
See you later!
Cheryl
Love it as it's my new space!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cheryl!
Wait til you'all see the chandelier that was her gift to me for my 50th!
