[ShOe Inspired] Trouser Jeans & The Shirt of Many Colors

Hi there!
Outfit :: Multi-colored shirt-Ross Dress for Less // Shoes-Nine West @ Ross // Trouser Jeans-Gap // Bracelet & Earrings-Forever 21 // Necklace-Borrowed from the eldest // Bag-Gift
I am ShOe Inspired by this Multi-colored shirt in turquoise, chartreuse, aubergine, blush, and burnt orange, as well as these jeans!  The cool thing about these jeans is the trouser style, so I sometimes cheat and wear them when it's NOT casual Friday!  I can have both the comfort of jeans with the look of a trouser.  Tricky, right?!

I also think that my turquoise-like colored toes have prompted me to wear these unique colors lately.  I just LOVE how some of these color names sound, like chartreuse & aubergine; a much more sophisticated ring to it than green & purple, plus they're just FUN to say, don't you think?

Well, have a happy Friday, and I hope you all like my colorful jeans outfit, even though I really wore it on Wednesday (wink, don't tell my boss...).  Have you ever broken your workplace dress code rules?  Let me know because even though we should still stay professional, some days we just want to be comfortable!  Thank you for visiting and being a part of my journey!

See you later!

[Sole Inspiration] My Daddy

Hi there!

Between the college graduation and the fact that my parents and in-laws are coming up this weekend for the youngest's baptism, I've been a little delayed with Father's Day this year.  Poor dads...a conflict like graduations would never work for Mother's Day, because I don't think we would tolerate that very well!
Kind of a repeat, but the most recent photo of the hubby & I with my parents.
I know I'm stereotyping, but men are usually pretty easygoing about these types of things, like Father's Day.  My father is the strong, silent-type who doesn't let things bother him.  But if Dad ever got mad, watch out, because it was not something petty he was upset about, and you knew you were in trouble!  It's ironic because my husband is the same way, and that is fortunate for my mother and I, because sometimes, we both can be pretty passionate and can get into a tizzy about little things!  Hey, it's a balance of personalities and they do say that a girl looks for qualities in a husband that are like her father.

My dad is a surgeon, and when he was in his residency and fellowship, I remember when he got home, I'd hear the garage door opening while I slept, since the garage was below my bedroom.  We would regularly visit him at the hospital when he was on-call and have a meal together in the cafeteria.  This was something I looked forward to because we were there as a family, plus I could get their rice topped with butter and salt!  See how positive memories can be rooted with food experiences, even one at a hospital cafeteria?!
A photo of Dad that I stole from one of his friends on Facebook, which btw, is so neat that he's on Facebook!  My eldest loves it when he texts her; she thinks it's so cute.  We all bought him a new laptop for Father's Day since he is so willing to learn and embrace all the new technology...he's so cool!
When Dad would introduce us to his co-workers and the nurses at the hospital, they would always comment on my father's gentle, soft-spoken approach as a surgeon and his caring attitude.  I honestly never thought much about it then; I mean I know that, he's my Dad...  But as I grew up and forged my way through my own career, I realized what a special attribute this was for a surgeon.

My Dad basically was grace under pressure as he worked day-to-day, since surgeons literally have the life of someone in their hands. His skills as a surgeon have improved and saved many lives, both during his career and into his missionary work, plus he has impacted the lives of people beyond their physical ailments.  I truly believe that this is because of his strong-rooted family values and his unfailing belief in God.  My father is never one that gets very preachy, but has always quietly lived his faith and practiced his strong moral values on a daily basis. This in turn instilled a good work ethic and solid core & family values in my brother, sister, and I, that have been carried on to his grandchildren.
My Dad & Mom with my family Thanksgiving 2011.  My brother and his family were also in town, so we were just missing my sister and her family.  My parents have their 50th wedding anniversary next year, so we are supposed to do a cruise or all-inclusive resort, so we'll all be together then!
I know that my Dad is proud of and loves all three of us kids, but it's so neat to see how he lights up at all nine of his grandchildren.  "Lolo" (Grandpa in Tagalog), which he is affectionately called, is who the grandkids run to, and he just glows with pride and affection.  Kona even has an extra excited wag when he sees Lolo!

About ten years ago, I was asked to give a Father's Day speech about my dad at my childhood church.  While writing my talk, I asked my then 12-year-old eldest, How would you describe your Lolo?  She thought about it for a second, then as a matter-of-fact said, Great!

My Daddy---The Great Surgeon, the Great Leader, the Great Missionary, the Great Speaker, the Great Gardener, the Great Golfer/Tennis Player, the Great Son, the Great Brother, the Great Husband, the Great Father, the Great Grandfather.  In knowing my father's humble nature, he would quickly dismiss this grand assessment, because he would say that this is just what he is supposed to do.  I believe that someday, the Lord will say to him, "Well done, good and faithful servant...", because my father was, "...faithful over a few things, he was made responsible over many things...", paraphrased Matthew 25:21 (NIV).

Do you have someone you aspire to who has had a powerful influence on you?  Let me know because sometimes we can look to people who are superficial, and those with substance, whom we should aspire to, are sometimes closer than we think.  Thank you for visiting and being a part of my journey!

[Food Stop] Early & Late Father's Day Lunch

Hi there!
The first stop for an early lunch was at Selland's in El Dorado Hills the day before Father's Day.  Such a cute, fun place to go, and the pizza and desserts we ordered were delicious!  They even had little cookies for dad!  Selland's Market Cafe is owned by the owner's of The Kitchen Restaurant and Ella Dining Room & Bar, which are both well-renowned restaurants in the Sacramento area, providing high quality dining experiences.
In fact, I would LOVE to go to The Kitchen for our anniversary next month, but it can be hard to get a reservation for a specific day and rumor has it that for a meal, they run over $100 per person!  We have been lucky to dine there a couple of times for a pharmaceutical rep dinner and the food was divine.  Someday, I hope to experience The Kitchen in a more intimate situation.
The kids watching the graduation services among the beautiful trees in Napa Valley.
We couldn't have a true Father's Day meal together because my Eldest's boyfriend and some of her friends graduated from college that day.  That's the reason for the early and late Father's Day lunches, although we did have a nice graduation luncheon at the Golden Harvest in St. Helena that day!  Sorry, no photos because I was, of course, too hungry to remember to take photos!  But try their fried eggplant...it was to die for!
Gillwoods Cafe was the late lunch a week after Father's Day.  We went to St. Helena, so we were able to all be together and enjoy brunch.  It was SO good! The french toast and lox & bagel I ordered were perfect, but I was good and didn't eat the bagel since I already had the french toast as my carbs for the meal!
My husband wanted to check out Petaluma, so after our meal, we headed out there and took a stroll around their downtown area.  They are located by a waterfront and have quaint little shops and eateries.  We went to this boutique that sold new and recycled clothing called Ooh, La Loft.  We didn't end up buying anything, but there were tons of cute things in there...I'm sure we'll be back.
A quick photo of the lovely kiddos at the Petaluma town center before we head home, but not before running to Lala's Creamery across the street for some ice cream!
Have you ever had to postpone a special day because of another event?  Let me know because I think it worked out for us this time because we actually went out to eat three times for Father's Day!  Thank you for visiting and being a part of my journey!

See you later!

[Stylish Steps] Cost Per Wear Polka Dot Blouse

Hi there!
 Cost Per Wear (CPW) Item
In my 25 Random Things About Me post here, I listed one of my style philosophies, When I buy a piece of clothing, I totally believe in "cost per wear" in order to justify the cost of the item.  Well, I thought that I would show you an example of CPW with this blouse I purchased for $53 the other week at Nevaeh, (pictured on these posts, here and here, and styled on this post here).
This is probably about the 5th time I've worn this blouse since buying it a couple weeks ago, and about the 3rd way I've styled it.  That means that so far, my CPW=$10.60, and that's in just two weeks!  And I plan on lowering that CPW number, because I LOVE this blouse!
I had a pretty relaxing day, getting my hair done as well a pedicure; so like my turquoise-like toes?!  I thought I'd match my jewelry with my toes, which were inspired by the upcoming 4th of July holiday (thinking of a patriotic-colored outfit to coordinate...must think on this...).
Outfit: Blouse - Nevaeh, Shorts - Old Navy, Shoes & Earrings - Borrowed from my Eldest, Ring - Francesca's, Bracelets - Handmade gifts from a friend, Toes - OPI, color, I forgot...sorry!
What are your thoughts on and have you ever used my CPW, Cost Per Wear philosophy?  Let me know when you have used this to justify an item, especially a pricey one!  Thank you for visiting and being a part of my journey!

See you later!

[ShOe Inspired] Casual Friday Jeans & Color Fun!

Hi there!
Happy Friday...and while we're at it, Happy Casual Friday Outfit!
Coral sweater - Gap, Black tank - Costco, Yellow belt & Brown bag - Target, Gold & Pink Necklace and Turquoise Bracelet - Borrowed from the Eldest, Jeans (with the top button missing!) - The Son's 11th Grade School Fair Yard Sale, Black Suede Stiletto Booties - Calvin Klein.
I am ShOe Inspired by colors since I'm wearing a lot of colors today that are broken up with some neutrals.  I'm also wearing my Calvin Klein Lenora Booties that I wasn't too sure about at first, but think I am slowly falling in love with and building a nice relationship with, as I have now worn her since one of my original posts here and in a Shoe Lookbook here.
Now I don't know if it was because it's a Friday, the fact that I'm wearing jeans, or all the different colors, but I was in quite a good, peppy mood!  I honestly think it was the colors that made me feel light and fun, and bringing along my Calvin Booties added a flirty, sophisticated look to the outfit.  I believe it brought us even closer together...because there was a spring in Lenora's step all day ;-)
Isn't this a beautiful profile of Lenora, my Calvin Klein Black Suede Booties?!
The Hubby and I commuted in to work together that day because I was working out of another clinic that was close to his downtown office.  He takes my outfit post photos and is still navigating his way with the camera, as well as working with a subject who definitely is not a model, so when he told me to strike a sexy model pose...
Here's what I came up with.  The fact that my hair grazed my face as the wind gently blew, along with my playful mood, and possibly an inspired photographer, made for a decent photo since all these elements were in place.  Not bad for this old girl :-)
Has something you worn ever effected your mood?  Let me know since I believe that clothing is not only an expression of our personalities, it can make an impact on how we're feeling!  Thank you for visiting and being a part of my journey!

See you later!

Verse Meditation -
Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother's womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things.
Ecclesiastes 11:5, NLT

Through this blogging journey I have been taking, I found this lovely, honest blog called, Small Spaces.  The blog author, Kim summarizes how I feel about mystery and how I need to let go to it by saying, "I think my fear is that mystery means out-of-control.   Mystery means I might get hurt.  Mystery means I don’t know what’s coming next, but it’s probably not going to feel very good.  But there is so much yes in mystery.  When I let go of control and live in mystery, I open myself to gifts that don’t come when I am holding on tightly.  There is serendipity.   There are surprises, and peace".

Being such a control freak, I don't like the unknown.  Mysteries are okay in fiction, (although I have been known to leave the room or close my eyes if a movie gets too suspenseful), but in real life I hate not knowing or understanding things. Do you like mystery or the unknown?  Let me know how you have learned or are learning to let go to the mystery of it all and discovering the peace that it brings. Thank you for visiting and being a part of my journey!

See you later!

P.S.  My oh so talented Graphic Designer (as well as friend) and I are working on the website design, so be patient as we try out some things here...

[Life-Style Forum] Bloom Maxi

Hi there!

How has your week been so far? It's been pretty hot up here so I'm all about staying cool and being comfortable.  The sun was already blazing hot that morning, so forgive me for my squinty, shadowed, and "get me out of this bright, glaring sun" look!
Now I know that I'm not tall and long-limbed. I'm 5'4" and on that borderline of petite sizes and standard clothing sizes. For an American woman, I am the average height and weight, but by fashion industry standards, I'm actually a full-figured midget! This along with my Filipino ancestry, where I am considered tall and on the curvy (can be a nice compliment) or plump (always an inconsiderate remark) side, I did have some feelings of insecurity about being the big girl in the family.
This is why I try to find clothing that can hide flaws and have a slimming effect, like a maxi dress that can elongated one's body.  Oh and heels of course can definitely give the illusion of longer legs!
Outfit:  Moss Approach Dress - Bloom, Bag - Target, Ring - Francesca's, Bracelet - Banana Republic, Necklace - ???
What do you think about fashion industry standards and how this can effect how you dress and more importantly how you feel?  Let me know because this is something that can make an impact on how we feel beautiful, as I discussed in a previous post here.

Send me any photos you have of yourself in outfits that make you feel beautiful since I want this Life-Style Forum to become a place for sharing and support to everyone.  Thank you for visiting and being a part of my journey!

See you later!

[Food Stop] Jack's Urban Eats & My Son

Hi there!

Jack's Urban Eats is a local Sacramento restaurant with a few locations in the area; they even have one at the Sacramento International Airport.  It is a popular hang out and the go to place for a quick, delicious, healthy (especially if you get the salad) meal.  Our son has worked there for a year now and has had a great experience there.  We've always enjoyed Jack's, so when he got the job, we were excited and proud of him.  He's going away for college now, so last week was his last week at Jack's...so sad.
Their Mac & Cheese is the BEST!
LOVE their salads!  They have a variety of salads with steak, chicken, salmon, and prawns, or you can make your own combination.  They also have sandwiches!
Jack's DELICIOUS Urban Fries!  Blue Cheese, Chili Oil, French Fries...can't stop eating them!  They even offer sweet potato fries too!
My son, behind the glass, cleaning up the grill since it's almost closing time.  Such a hard worker he is!
If you are ever in the Sacramento area, I recommend that you stop by!  Do you have a favorite local restaurant in your area where you can just pop in and know you'll get a quick, delicious meal?  Let me know so that when I'm in your neck of the woods, I can check it out!  Thank you for visiting and being a part of my journey!

See you later!

[Shoe Lookbook] Gold & Silver

Hi there!

The Shoes for this Shoe Lookbook -
Silver Wedges & Suede Booties - Target, Bronze Flats - Ross.

The First Look with Silver Wedges -

The Second Look with Suede Booties -

The Third Look with Bronze Flats -

Outfit: Shirt - Urban Outfitters, Cami - Benetton, Shorts - Forever 21, Purse & Belts - Target, Necklace - borrowed from the eldest!
I wore this the other week and after seeing the photos, I honestly wasn't too impressed with any of the ensembles, except for maybe the bronze flats (if I could just take off that necklace!).  The yellow belt also looks off as well as the suede boots, but in real life the shirt's sheer front had gold flecks with silvery-gray tones, so I thought it would work...

Oh well.  I thought I would just post it because what the heck, style and fashion is all about experimenting and you're bound to make some mistakes!  Who knows, some of you may like it or at least take some styling tips from it.  So what do you think of this Shoe Lookbook styling post?  Let me know since I am obviously not too keen on the whole look.  Thank you for visiting and being a part of my journey!

See you later!
