[Life-Style Forum] A Sneak Peek at He+Me :: Couple Style

Hi there!

In looking at my most popular blog posts, I've noticed the hubby gets top billing with his manly style on this post.  Even this men's style post is viewed a lot, and our date night posts are pretty well read too (here and here)!  So with the hubby's blessing, I am going to start a series, He+Me Couple Style, posting our couple looks & adventures for our occasional nights out.  I am even considering doing a vlog based on this series, but let's start with this first...

Our style as a couple can match up pretty nicely.  My hubby is on the conservative, preppy side, which I think he keeps fairly well updated.  I am classic, stylish, with a current vibe; at least I'd like to think my style is chic, yet hip!  We're also both pretty practical, and somehow seem to coordinate our looks pretty well.  Usually we are not ones to try to match each other purposefully, except if you count our "first date" as you can see on a past post here
The Hubby and I Spring 2012 at an early Mother's Day Brunch with the family.
The Hubby and I Summer 2011 at my Father-in-law's 80th Birthday celebration.
The Hubby and I Spring 2010 at a co-worker's outdoor wedding.
See what I mean about us coordinating?  Check us out almost matching at my niece's wedding in So Cal the Summer of 2009.  The kids were in the wedding, so of course they matched, but I promise that the hubby and I didn't plan it!  My taupe peplum dress is from H&M and I purchased these midnight blue Marc Fisher peep-toe pumps at DSW the day before, because I didn't really like how the shoes I packed went with this dress.  The hubby wore his olive suit & belt from Banana Republic, white dress shirt and striped maroon & pink tie from J.Crew, with black shoes from Allen Edmonds.
Wow!  Look at how young the kids look here!  See what else I style these shoes with here and here.
And peplum...what?!  Isn't that a recent fashion trend, and um...I'm wearing it three years earlier?!  That's the funny thing about fashion versus style.  I saw and purchased this dress because I just loved it and thought it would be perfect for the wedding.  It was simple and I loved the little tiered detail.  Now with the current peplum rage, I don't have to necessarily buy this trend since I already have it in my closet!

Personal style is just that...personal.  One should purchase something not only because it's in fashion, but because it appeals to your style.  Now don't get me wrong, I like to try to stay on trend, but for trends to overtake what your style is or go broke from it to stay updated, that's just fashion.  In doing this personal life & style blog, I have found that I am overwhelmed at times with fashion, from trend alerts to fashion focus pieces to celebrity who wore what, to other fashion blogs...and I. can't. keep. up!

Because of this blog, I never realized how much was really out there; I have to remember what I like and what my style is, not just what's in fashion.  I believe I need to stay true to that, plus share a unique part of me, which is He+Me---the hubby's & my style together, where we have an individual style and we have a couple style!  What are your thoughts about this topic and series?  Let me know and join me as I explore this aspect of my life.  Thank you for visiting and being a part of my journey!

See you later!

Cheryl
